The amazing adventures of Ben Kaufmann

Tuesday, August 17th, 2010

Hello Everyone!

I (Ben Kaufmann) Just finished up with a good 3 and a half week tour out to the central western side of Canada for some Craz-E-Crew Stunt shows. Pretty exhausting but fun with the 3 to 4 shows a day at 20-30 minutes each. All that riding and driving almost the whole 7000 km round trip from Ottawa, I feel it all has hit me harder than being jet lagged! All together the trip was amazing! We stopped in every town or city we were able so we could ride the local parks and street.

The tour brought us to perform shows in Mattawa, Ontario, Longlac, Ontario, Red Deer, Alberta, Strathmoore, Alberta, and Regina, Saskatchewan. We got to ride some pretty awesome stuff along the way. We all had the pleasure to ride Millenium Skatepark in Calgary, Kenora, Ontario`s Skatepark, Winnipeg`s Fork`s Skatepark, Strathmoore`s Skatepark, Sudbury, Ontario`s Dirt Trails, Street in almost every town we were at. The team had tons of press coverage for the shows we performed and here is one of the article interviews I had with the Red Deer Advocate.

Mace Renegade D30 Knee and Shin Pads:
nosepick medI’ve been Running all different types of knee pads over the last 10 years of my riding career. The Renegade pads use the D30® armour changes molecular density when subjected to impact. This allows these pads to be really thin but so stiff when I get smashed by my pedals or the concrete. I wear a slimmer cut pair of jeans most of the time so they don’t get caught in my chain. The renegade pads are hardly noticeable under any type of jean, even women’s jeans, lol.  Being so thin and porous they also breath better than any other shin or knee pad that I have ever used. Riding this rock threw me to play in the dirt at the bottom a few times. I smashed my knees into the ground and into some rocks with out a problem. I’ve been riding these pads now for about 2 months and my legs feel normal! My shins and knees are really chewed up from the years of pedal bites and crashes. Finally learning my lesson and without my Renegades I won’t ride. This D30 stuff is hands down pretty incredible!

Ben Kaufmann: Finally Some Street and Outdoor Riding!

Thursday, April 8th, 2010

Every year it takes a while for the snow banks vanish and the sand to be swept away. The streets in Ottawa are finally rideable thanks to the street sweepers and some record breaking March weather. Its nice not having to worry about washing out every time you throw down some serious G turns! This past week has been Incredible in the east side of Canada! We have had a few days above the 20 degree mark and one up to 29 degrees!! Most of my day, unfortunately is inside working but getting out afterward to some shredding is always such a treat.

The nose pick photo was shot at the Landsdowne stadium in Ottawa by Rich Redmond. This stadium is where the Ottawa renegades CFL Team used to play. The locals and I are trying to get our moves in now because the city is tearing down this gem of a street spot very soon. The stadium is to be re-developed for a new stadium, hotel and marketplace. After the development Ottawa should have a new football team so look out Alouettes!

The Turndown photo is shot at the Legacy Skatepark In Ottawa. This time of year is super busy at the park after the winter. Everyone has to tend to their concrete fever. Shredding this park is often a challenge with suicide bombers dropping in on ya during the day making the dim evening the time to shoot a photo. The turndown is a trick that has been a long time coming for me but often a first trick for some ! haha

Working on a few new photo and video shoots so stay tuned for more!
