Mace Renegade D30 Knee and Shin Pads:
nosepick medI’ve been Running all different types of knee pads over the last 10 years of my riding career. The Renegade pads use the D30® armour changes molecular density when subjected to impact. This allows these pads to be really thin but so stiff when I get smashed by my pedals or the concrete. I wear a slimmer cut pair of jeans most of the time so they don’t get caught in my chain. The renegade pads are hardly noticeable under any type of jean, even women’s jeans, lol.  Being so thin and porous they also breath better than any other shin or knee pad that I have ever used. Riding this rock threw me to play in the dirt at the bottom a few times. I smashed my knees into the ground and into some rocks with out a problem. I’ve been riding these pads now for about 2 months and my legs feel normal! My shins and knees are really chewed up from the years of pedal bites and crashes. Finally learning my lesson and without my Renegades I won’t ride. This D30 stuff is hands down pretty incredible!

Perimeter Jersey Review on Feedthehabit.com

Wednesday, May 26th, 2010

Jersey reviews don’t come around everyday but Feedthehabit.com recently review our Perimeter Jeresy. Here is a bit of what they had to say:

“Heading out this Spring, I’ve been wearing a couple of pieces from Mace Gear: the Perimeter Jersey and Mirage Glove. I’ve been impressed with the overall quality of these products and know they come from rider-influenced designs. I mean, how could Ryan Leech lead anyone astray, right?”  Read the full review

About a week ago MTBR.com put up a review of our Task shorts and Foundation jersey. From the sounds of it they were pretty stoked on our gear. Here is couple of excerpts.

Task Shorts:

“I know my particular problems with biking shorts aren’t everyones. I’m a big guy, 6′4″, and even though I’m told I’m not fat, I’m still pretty thick, especially in the legs. So finding a good pair shorts that are loose fitting, long, and my size (36, 38 depending on the brand) has been challenging.  Royal, TLD, Sombrio, have all been worn and now just take up space in my closet. I got so sick of looking for riding shorts I ended up just going to Ross and getting some hip hop style plaid cotton shorts for $5 and pretty much called it a day.” Click Here to read the full review.

“This Mace Foundation jersey on the other hand is special. It wicks sweat faster than any jersey I’ve yet to wear. When I sweat I go from Death Valley dry to Niagara Falls wet within minutes. On a warm day, under eucalyptus trees with a gentile breeze, I went from wet to dry in 20 minutes.  While resting under those trees, instead of getting cold with the sweat staying near my skin, it was quickly wicked away and I warmed up, keeping my back and arms relaxed. This had never happened before. I even commented on it to the people I was riding with.  They gave me that ‘what the hell are you talking about look’?”

Task Short, Caliber Gloves and Jersey Review on NSMB

Friday, November 13th, 2009

Originally I wasn’t sure whether or not we should be pointing out product reviews on our gear. But once in a while we get questions from people wondering where they can find reviews, so I thought it would be a good idea to start posting them here. A couple of months ago NSMB.com did a review on the Mace Task shorts, Caliber jersey and Gloves. Here is a small excerpt from the review, but you’ll have to click on the link below to read the full review.

“The Mace Task shorts are my new favourite shorts. Notice I didn’t just say “riding” shorts. From the day I got the Tasks, I have spent more time in them than just about any other piece of clothing I own. If they are in the clean pile and it is over 10 degrees, I am wearing them. They are that comfortable…” Click here to read the full review.

A Sneak Peak at 2010 Mace

Monday, October 26th, 2009

If you want to see what Mace is up to for 2010, check out this preview on PinkBike.com .

Here is a little excerpt, but you’ll have to go to PinkBike.com and scroll down to check out the whole thing.

Based out of Vancouver BC, Mace is bringing its A-Game for the 2010 season. A new line of urban clothing is making its debut; it will blend clean styles and tech fabrics with features like DWR anti UV treatments. The armor has been revamped for 2010 with new models using d3o technology and updated features across the line. Their Epic and Freeride clothing lines will both see improvements and additions including a new all-mountain helmet called the NOS. The Mace gear is put through its paces on a daily basis by their team: Dylan Korba, Jay Hoots and Ryan Leech, so it is dialed for anything you can throw at it.
