Good Times Abound in Flagstaff Arizona

imga01421The first stop on our Ride guide trip was Flagstaff Arizona. We flew into Phoenix and drove to Flag from there, stopping briefly in a Red Robin for lunch where we were served by a seductive temptress by the name of Houni (Basically pronounced Honey). When we arrived I asked the guy seating us for their hottest female waitress -Houni was it. The unexpected pitfall to this genius plan was that our nice little Arizonian waitress loved to talk; leaving very little time for eating. For those of you who know me, I like to talk as well, but it appeared as if I had met my match. So after an Asian salad and much drawn out pointless banter we were on our way to flagstaff.

img_29841Flagstaff is an interesting little college town that just so happens to have great mountain biking. We were fortunate enough to meet up with Anthony from one of the local bike shops who took us to Sunset Trial. Sunset trail reminded me a lot of riding in Penticton actually. It’s dusty, dry and full of pine trees because it is at such a high elevation, roughly 9000 feet. It actually has a ski resort on the adjacent mountain, the only decent sized resort in Arizona; I didn’t even know they had ski resorts in Arizona. The riding was great, I really enjoyed it and it gave me a little bit of time to acclimatise to the warmer weather of Arizona.

Being that Flagstaff was a college town and it was graduation weekend I was hoping to add the part about me meeting up with a bunch of hot American college girls and going out on the town to this part of the blog…. but that just didn’t happen. After a day of pushing your bike back up the trail again and again to get the right shots you tend to be pretty tired out. So instead of trying to find the NAU hotties I opted for a 10:00PM bedtime and promptly hit the sack.

imga01751The next day we hit up the kick off festival for the Flagstaff bike to work week. This was pretty cool because it was basically a bunch of people stoked on bikes. There was a bike swap, booths and even a bicycle smoothie making machine, basically a blender hooked to a bike in some fashion. The bike to work week brought a bunch of interesting characters too. I was super pumped on Flagstaff and my only complaint is we didn’t have more time to shred their fabulous trials.

Over and Out
